The 16-25 Railcard takes a third off most rail fares in Great Britain. It is open to anyone aged 16 to 25, and to mature students in full-time education, whatever their age.
How to buy a 16-25 railcard
Online from the official Railcard site, at a station ticket office, or through some train operators. Mature students need their college or university to confirm their status on the application.
When the discount applies
A minimum fare applies to journeys starting before 10:00 on weekdays, so early peak trips see a smaller saving — except during July and August, when the restriction is lifted. There is no restriction at weekends or on public holidays.
16-25 Railcard savings
